The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was established in the year 2016 with an intake of 60, which has increased to 120 in the year 2023–24. The department boasts well-equipped laboratories and well-qualified faculty. It is recognized as an R&D centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University. The department hosts digital classrooms, a library, an indigenous-designed laboratory, and project laboratories.

The Department of CSE has endeavoured to organize symposia, seminars, and workshops for students and faculty, as well as regular field trips to various industries, providing ample industrial exposure and integrating practical and theoretical knowledge into the curriculum. Students in the CSE department are encouraged to think innovatively while strengthening their core computer science knowledge. The faculty members are committed to the all-round development of students by training them through technical competitions at a global level.

The Department of CSE actively involved in professional societies such as CSI and IEEE, which regularly conduct workshops, technical events, coding competitions, and sessions on open-source software development and also successfully organized a 24-hour hackathon and a competitive coding event, CodeMitten, encouraging innovation and hands-on problem-solving.

Recently, the department initiated a chapter of The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), further broadening opportunities for students to engage with the global computing community.

The Department of CSE, as a whole, aims to develop ace Computer Science Engineering professionals with ethical values and a strong civic sense.

Additionally, the department has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for three years, from 2024 to 2027, further affirming its commitment to academic excellence and quality education.
