Civil Engineering

Combined with the systematic teaching methodology & syllabus in line with the current technology

Dr. B C Nagendra Prasad-
B.E, M.Tech, Ph.D

Professor and Head Department of Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is the oldest professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings and railways. The civil engineering field is highly competitive, with a strong demand for qualified professionals at all times.

Civil engineers are responsible for research and development in addition to their work directly involved with construction projects. Civil engineering is traditionally broken into a number of sub-disciplines. Civil engineering can take place in the public sector from municipal public works departments through government agencies and in the private sector from locally based firms to global companies.Civil engineers are employed in every sector of society: manufacturing, construction, transportation and distribution, utilities/energy production, public works departments/agencies (municipalities) and private industry.

About department

The department was started in the year 2016 with an intake of 60.

The research centre established in the year 2022 recognized by VTU offers M.Sc. Engineering by research and Ph.D. Programs.

The department has association with several acclaimed professional bodies like, BAI, IEI and more. The department has entered into MOU with more than 10 leading industries, consulting and professional organizations to help the student internship programs and placements.
